The Karnataka Government’s Basava Vasati Yojana aims to provide affordable housing for the residents of the state.
The scheme is a part of the government’s efforts to provide people with a home in their own state. The government wants to provide housing for all its citizens, regardless of their income.
The scheme aims to create affordable housing for low-income groups and middle-income groups in urban and rural areas. It also aims at providing affordable housing for those who have been living on rent or loan for a long time. The scheme will be implemented by the Karnataka Housing Board, which will identify land suitable for construction and hand it over to builders at subsidized rates.

Introduction: What is Basava Vasati Yojana and How Does it Work?
The Basava Vasati Yojana is a housing scheme in Karnataka and it is named after the 12th century philosopher, saint and social reformer, Basavanna. The scheme was launched by the government of Karnataka to provide affordable housing to the people of Karnataka.
The government plans to build at least 1 million affordable houses in Karnataka by 2021. The project will be implemented through the Housing for All initiative.
The Basava Vasati Yojana aims to provide a secure roof over one’s head for all citizens of Karnataka. The scheme provides financial assistance and subsidies to help low-income earners with their housing needs
Basava Vasati is undertaken in Karnataka under Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Ltd.
Objective of Basava Vasati Yojana
The Scheme’s objective is to provide affordable housing to economically weaker sections of the society, people who are residents of Karnataka.
Who can benefit from the Basava Vasati Yojana?
- People who are below poverty line
- SC & ST ( Schedule Caste & Schedule Tribe)
- Other Backward Caste (OBC)

- Annual income should not exceed Rs 32,000
