Introduction: What is the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) and How does it Work?
The PMGKY is a scheme announced by the Prime Minister of India on 8 November 2016. It is an amnesty scheme that was introduced to provide one last chance to black money holders to come clean by paying taxes and penalties.
The details of the scheme are as follows:
– The PMGKY will be open for declarations from 9 November 2016 to 31 March 2017
– Declarations can be made in any form, with or without payment
– Declarations can be made anonymously or identified
– All declarations will be scrutinized and verified before being accepted.
Due to Covid 19, the earlier PMGKY has taken the shape of PMGKP to help the poor people in India and also to cover Health workers.
What to Know about the Scheme, Eligibility Criteria for PM Garib Kalyan Yojana
The PM Garib Kalyan Yojana is a scheme that was launched by the Indian government in order to help the poor people.
This scheme is open for people who are below the poverty line and have a BPL card. The eligibility criteria for this scheme is that the person should be between 18-40 years of age and should not own any land or house.
What is Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana Package?
The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana Package is an extensive relief package of approximately 1.70 Lakh Crore package for those in need to help fight against the Corona Virus. The announcement was made in March 2020 to assist the most disadvantaged of the poor with food and cash to ensure that they are not faced with issues in purchasing essential goods and meeting their essential demands.
What does Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana provide?
- Insurance cover of 50 Lakhs either loss of life due to Covid 19 or accidental death on account of Covid 19 duty, extended for one year w.ef. from April 2021.
- 80 Crore people to get 5kg of rice and 1kg of pulses every month, extended till Nov 2021
- 20 Crore women Jan Dhan account holders to be give 500 rupees for 3 months
- MNREGA wages increased from 182 to 202 rupees
- 1000 Rupees to 3 Crore poor senior citizen, disabled or poor widows
- Rs 2000 paid to farmers in April 2020 under PM Kisan Yojana to benefit 8.7 Crore families
- State Government to use Building and Construction wokers welfare fund to provide relief to construction workers
How times it takes to settle Insurance claims for Health Care workers under PMGKP?
On 1st June 2021 Govt. issued a notification to settle all insurance claims for health workers who are fighting Covid to be settled within 48 Hours.
Claims can be certified by District Collector and the Insurance company should settle the claim within 48 hours

- Download the form and fill in the details like name, address etc.
